David and I stepped off the tiniest plane onto the tarmac in Florence, South Carolina and like second nature, my hair went into a side bun, sunglasses came out, and my cardigan came off. I was back in the south with the heat and humidity and I didn’t mind one bit! That euphoric feeling was enhanced knowing I was there to celebrate two beautiful souls commit to one another.
Will (a.k.a William, Donnie) met David on a Cisco basketball team the first summer we were in Raleigh and the two became pretty good friends. David (who I have unofficially declared as my PR manager) brought up my name as soon as he found out Donnie had popped the question to Chelsea while they were out in Las Vegas.
You may remember this couple from a blog post a while back, because I also did their engagement photos back in Raleigh. They were such a fun couple to hang out with – always smiling when they looked at each other, super photogenic, hilarious. I mean they were perfect, and I was crossing my fingers that they would also book me for their wedding as well, because I already had a feeling it was going to be wonderful.
A couple months after we booked the wedding, Chelsea emailed me with the news they were expecting…1 month before the wedding! I thought for sure they were postponing the wedding, or moving it up! A few weeks later, she let me know the wedding was on as planned, and I was even more excited to be a part of such a special moment for them. Baby Paxton greeted the world May 17th, a perfect healthy spitting image of Chelsea.
June 3rd finally arrived and everything was running smoothly. Chelsea and Donnie made being new sleep deprived parents and planning a wedding look like a walk in the park! I quickly realized they weren’t in this alone. They had an army of support around them from family to amazing friends helping with everything.
Chelsea pulled up to the ceremony in a vintage blue convertible, walked in and went straight down the aisle. All eyes were on her, including Donnie’s tear filled eyes and endearing smile. After the ceremony, we went outside with the wedding party for a few fun pictures to beat the rain headed our way. I’m so thankful, we did this right away because as soon as we came back in it started to downpour and remained like that for the rest of evening.
The ceremony was followed by a fun reception where guests enjoyed a FROYO truck and homemade dinner, followed by dancing and fun! The evening flew by, and even though we weren’t able to make it back outside for sunset pictures, there were plenty of fun memories captured to make this day one for the records!
Donnie and Chelsea –
It was such an honor to capture these memories for you. You two are wonderful together. You guys look at each other like there is no one else around, and those ear-to-ear smiles say it all. I pray that you never loose that feeling, and that you continue to say “I Do” each and every day. I’m excited to follow you on your adventures ahead with Paxton. He has two incredibly smart, strong, and loving parents to look up to. I am so thankful for your friendship. Love you guys. I’ll leave you with this quote/advice.
“A good marriage isn’t something you find. It’s something you make and continue to build each and every day.” –Gary Thomas
